So we finally closed on our property! Needless to say, there were a few challenges in the process, however, we're grateful that we got through them and we are now the proud owners of a 40 acre farm (BTW, have we mentioned that moving really sucks!!). The house was built in 1968. For the most part, the house hasn't had much of an improvement since it was built other than the typical maintenance to keep the property in order. Duane built a new island to go into the kitchen. We have new flooring, new appliances, new central heat and air and a bunch of drywall work going on before we can actually move in to our new home (as well as paint EVERY wall in the house). Duane had to do some remodeling in the kitchen to facilitate what we wanted the space to look like - it's quite the remodel in a limited time. A couple of days after we closed on the property, the western sky had Jupiter and Saturn lined up for a view that hadn't been seen in over 800 years. On that particular evening, a slight mist settled in on the property that was just beautiful. If you look at the picture closely, you can see the bright "Christmas star" just above the hill in the background. The “great conjunction” as it's called, was a fitting culmination to the week as we arrived for our new adventure. In the meantime, we're living in a rented camper (shout out to North Alabama Camper Rentals LLC for the help - www.nacrllc.com), with three Pods sitting in the driveway stuffed with all of our belongings (aka junk) in them while we work on getting the house in order so we can move in. We both agree, not being able to decorate and celebrate the holiday season as we normally would is a bit odd for us. That being said, considering how 2020 has gone, it's not that surprising that things are the way they are - three months ago we had ZERO consideration of a new house or property, yet here we are! We're definitely looking forward to the new year and everything that comes with new beginnings. We hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and wish you all the best for a happy and safe New Year! To new beginnings!
